South Carolina credit unions, in partnership with the American Football Coaches Association, are working to protect the children in our state with free child identification kits. In November, every school age child in South Carolina will receive a free ID kit from their school. These kits, endorsed by the FBI, include an inkless fingerprint pad and an easy, painless way to collect DNA samples from your child.
Ed Smart, father of Elizabeth Smart, who was kidnapped from her home and later found, is the National Spokesperson for the National Child Identification Program. Don Munson of the Tiger Tailgate Show interviewed Mr. Smart prior to the Clemson game on October 22.
Addie Patterson Wilson, daughter of AFCU President Robert Wilson, accepted the first ID kit from Ed Smart and Coach Tommy Bowden at the Clemson game on October 22. These kits will be distributed to all school age children in South Carolina in November.
